Testosterone Cream for Women
A specialist-prescribed cream applied once daily in a low dose for adult women experiencing changes in libido, energy, mood, and clarity, and often paired with Estrogen Patches and Progesterone Capsules during the menopause transition.
Qualifying patients complete a comprehensive bloodwork panel (starting from $485, 95% refundable if our specialist determines you’re not a candidate) before your first prescription ships. Bloodwork lets our specialist confirm the protocol is safe for you and sets a baseline for monitoring.

Important Safety Information.
Who this medication is for. Testosterone Cream is a specialist-prescribed therapy applied once a day in the morning to a small area of clean, dry skin — the inner forearm, inner thigh, or lower abdomen — and prescribed for adult women experiencing changes in libido, energy, mood, or mental clarity. The cream contains bioidentical testosterone in a low female-physiologic dose, custom-prepared by a Canadian pharmacy. The cream is sometimes prescribed on its own and sometimes alongside Estrogen Patches and Progesterone Capsules as part of a comprehensive plan for the menopause transition. Strength, schedule, and pairing decisions are made by our specialist based on your symptoms and bloodwork, not by self-selection.
Who shouldn’t take it.
- Anyone who is pregnant, who suspects they may be pregnant, who is trying to become pregnant, or who is breastfeeding — testosterone can cause serious harm to a developing baby.
- Anyone with a personal history of breast cancer or any other hormone-sensitive cancer.
- Anyone with active or a past history of blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or stroke.
- Anyone with severe liver disease.
- Anyone with active cardiovascular disease, or with an untreated condition that causes elevated red blood cell counts.
- Anyone with a known hypersensitivity to testosterone or to any component of the cream, until evaluated by our specialist.
How to use it safely. Apply the prescribed dose once daily, ideally in the morning, to clean, dry skin on the inner forearm, inner thigh, or lower abdomen. Rotate the application site each day. Do not apply to the breasts or to the genital area, and do not apply to broken, irritated, or sunburned skin. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying. Allow the cream to absorb for at least five to ten minutes before getting dressed, and avoid showering, bathing, or swimming for at least two hours after application. If you apply other lotions or creams to the same area, wait at least thirty minutes between products. Until the cream is fully absorbed and the application site is covered or washed, avoid skin-to-skin contact with anyone else, especially children — testosterone can transfer through skin and is not safe for others to absorb.
Common side effects. The most frequently reported effects are mild acne or slightly oilier skin, and mild redness or irritation at the application site, especially during the first few weeks as the body adjusts. Less commonly, some patients experience mood changes, increased fine facial hair, changes to the menstrual cycle in patients who are still cycling, or breast tenderness. Testosterone can also affect how some other medications work, including blood thinners, insulin or other diabetes medications, and other topical products applied to the same skin; tell our specialist about every medication and supplement you take so the plan can be reviewed. If a side effect is bothering you or interfering with your day, raise it at your next check-in — dose, timing, or application site can be adjusted.
When to seek medical attention.
- A noticeable deepening of the voice, or persistent hoarseness — stop applying the cream and contact our specialist before the next dose.
- Unusual changes at or near the application area, including unexpected swelling or growth.
- Sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, or coughing up blood, which can signal a blood clot in the lung.
- Pain, swelling, or warmth in one leg, which can signal a blood clot in the leg.
- Sudden severe headache, vision changes, weakness on one side of the body, or difficulty speaking, which can signal a stroke.
- A new breast lump, persistent breast pain, or unusual nipple discharge.
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe upper-abdominal pain, or persistent nausea, which can signal a liver issue.
- Signs of an allergic reaction, including widespread rash, swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
Monitoring. Comprehensive bloodwork is required before prescribing, and our specialist reviews hormone markers and related labs at scheduled follow-up assessments — testosterone is a bloodwork-gated therapy because dosing must be confirmed by labs, not by symptoms alone. Clinical-status check-ins happen frequently during the first few months as the dose is fine-tuned, with regular check-ins throughout the year as our specialist re-evaluates your protocol.
Discuss any medications, conditions, allergies, surgical history, and current or planned pregnancy with our specialist. Apply the cream exactly as prescribed, follow the safe-application steps above, and keep your monitoring appointments — the dose works because it is small, steady, and measured against your bloodwork.
How it works
Once a day, a small dose of testosterone is rubbed into the skin on the inner forearm, inner thigh, or lower abdomen — adding back the same hormone the body slows down with age, in a small enough amount that our specialist tunes it through bloodwork.
Hormone Replenishment
The cream contains the same testosterone the body makes on its own — testosterone women produce naturally, in much smaller amounts than men, and at amounts that decline with age. The dose adds back what is missing.
Libido and Sexual Response
Testosterone is one of the main hormones the brain and body use for sexual desire and satisfaction. When the level is low, those signals quiet down. Replenishing the level supports the return of desire, response, and arousal.
Energy, Mood, and Clarity
The same low level that affects libido shows up across the day — as low energy, low motivation, mood that swings or sits flat, and a fog that makes focus harder. Replenishing the level supports each of these.
Specialist-Tuned Plan
Testosterone is a bloodwork-gated therapy. Our specialist sets the strength based on your labs and symptoms, with frequent check-ins early on as the dose is dialed in and regular check-ins through the year as the protocol is re-evaluated.

Who is Testosterone Cream for?
Testosterone Cream may be appropriate for adult women experiencing changes in libido, energy, mood, or mental clarity whose pattern and bloodwork support hormone therapy — both for women in or after the menopause transition and for women earlier in life whose testosterone has dropped below where it should be. Eligibility is confirmed after your initial assessment, your bloodwork, and our specialist’s review — not at checkout. The eligibility fee covers our specialist’s clinical review regardless of outcome; if you went straight to a comprehensive bloodwork panel, the comprehensive cost is 95% refundable if you’re not approved.
Which Canadian provinces is the Women's Health program available in?
We serve patients across Canada, with active lab coverage in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, and more. Patients outside our primary provinces are typically supported through alternate lab arrangements, and our health team will confirm what’s available in your region during onboarding. Shipping windows can vary by province.
Can I use my Health Spending Account or extended health insurance?
Many patients reimburse part of their treatment through an employer Health Spending Account or private extended health insurance. Gambit doesn’t bill insurers directly — instead, we provide an itemized receipt after each charge that you can submit to your plan administrator. Coverage rules vary plan by plan, so check with your administrator before assuming a specific amount will be reimbursed.
How do I apply Testosterone Cream, and what if I miss a dose?
The cream is applied once a day, ideally in the morning, to clean, dry skin on the inner forearm, inner thigh, or lower abdomen. Rotate the application site each day so the same patch of skin doesn’t take every dose. Rub it in until it’s absorbed, wash your hands with soap and water afterward, let the cream absorb for at least five to ten minutes before getting dressed, and avoid showering, bathing, or swimming for at least two hours after applying. Don’t apply it to the breasts, the genital area, or to broken or irritated skin.
If you miss a morning dose and remember later the same day, apply it then. If you don’t remember until the next morning, skip the missed dose and resume your regular morning routine — don’t double up to make up the gap. Your Gambit health team will walk you through the routine during onboarding, and our specialist checks in early on to make sure the timing and dose are working with your symptoms and your bloodwork.
How is pricing structured for Testosterone Cream?
Because the cream is dispensed at a single specialist-prescribed strength, there’s no per-strength pricing tier — the monthly cost depends on how much cream your prescription covers and on your province. You’ll see the exact monthly cost before any change is prescribed, and our health team walks you through the routine and the cost so price changes never happen by surprise. If your treatment plan combines this with Estrogen Patches or Progesterone Capsules, you’ll see each line item separately on your itemized receipt.
Will Testosterone Cream change my voice or facial hair, and is it safe around my family?
The dose Testosterone Cream is prescribed at is small — much smaller than the doses men take for testosterone therapy — and our specialist tunes it specifically against your bloodwork so the level stays inside the range a woman’s body normally produces on its own. Voice changes and increased facial hair are uncommon at this dose, but they are real possibilities, which is why bloodwork and symptom check-ins are part of the plan throughout treatment. If you ever notice your voice deepening or staying hoarse, stop applying the cream and contact our specialist before your next dose — that’s the cue to recheck the dose right away, not to wait.
About people around you: testosterone can transfer through skin, so the routine is built to keep that risk low. After applying, let the cream absorb for at least five to ten minutes before getting dressed, wash your hands with soap and water, and avoid skin-to-skin contact at the application site — especially with children — until the cream is fully absorbed and the area is covered or washed. Avoid showering, bathing, or swimming for at least two hours after applying.
Other possible side effects include mild acne or slightly oilier skin, mild redness or irritation where the cream is applied, mood changes, and changes to the menstrual cycle if you’re still cycling. Testosterone can also affect how some other medications work — including blood thinners, diabetes medications, and other topical products applied to the same skin — so tell our specialist about every prescription, supplement, and over-the-counter medication you take during your assessment. The full safety information, including less common but more serious risks, is listed in the Important Safety Information at the top of this page.
How long until I notice a difference, and how often will I check in with the specialist?
Most women begin to notice early changes in libido, energy, or mood within the first few weeks of consistent daily use, and fuller benefits build in over the first few months as the dose is tuned to your bloodwork. Results vary based on your starting symptom pattern, the dose our specialist sets for you, and how your body responds — nothing about the cream is a flip-the-switch fix.
Our specialist will check in with you a few times within your first several months while the plan is stabilizing, and ongoing follow-ups continue as long as you’re on Testosterone Cream so the plan keeps fitting how you feel and how your bloodwork tracks. If anything changes between scheduled check-ins — voice, mood, skin, energy, anything you’re unsure about — you can reach out to your Gambit health team; you’re not waiting for the next calendar slot to talk through it.
