What this medication is for
The daily ED tablet is a once-daily oral medication used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. It is taken every day at about the same time and works by improving blood flow to the penis — sexual stimulation is still required for it to work. Because the medication is taken every day, the level in your body stays steady, so you do not need to plan a dose around sexual activity. It is prescribed by your Gambit specialist after a clinical review and is dispensed only with a valid prescription.
Who should not take this medication
Do not take this medication if you:
- Take nitrates or other chest-pain medications (such as nitroglycerin tablets, sprays, patches, or ointments) — combining the two can cause a sudden, dangerous drop in blood pressure.
- Have had a serious allergic reaction to an oral ED medication in the past.
Tell your Gambit specialist about every medication you take, every supplement you use, and any heart, liver, kidney, blood-pressure, or vision conditions in your history — including any history of stroke, heart attack, or irregular heartbeat. Some health conditions and medications can change whether this tablet is safe for you, or whether the daily regimen is the right choice for you.
Drug and alcohol interactions
- Nitrates and chest-pain medications — do not combine. This is an absolute contraindication. Because this is a daily medication, the interaction risk is present every day for as long as you are taking it — not only on days you anticipate sexual activity.
- Alpha-blockers and other blood-pressure medications — can amplify the blood-pressure-lowering effect. Your Gambit specialist will review your full medication list before prescribing and may adjust the starting dose if you take blood-pressure medication.
- Excessive alcohol — can reduce how well the medication works and increase the risk of side effects such as headache, dizziness, and low blood pressure. Moderate consumption is generally fine.
- This medication can be taken with or without food. There are no specific food restrictions for the daily regimen.
How to take it
- Take one tablet by mouth once a day, at about the same time every day. A consistent daily routine — for example, with morning coffee or your usual morning medications — helps you remember to take it.
- The medication takes a few days of consistent dosing for the level in your body to build up. You may not feel the full effect on day one — this is expected with a daily regimen.
- Sexual stimulation is still required for the medication to produce an erection — it does not produce an erection on its own.
- Take only one tablet per day. Do not take a second tablet on the same day, even if you anticipate sexual activity later.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is already close to the time of your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take only your next regular dose — do not double up.
- Specific dosing instructions, including the exact strength of your prescription, will be provided with your medication.
Common side effects
Most side effects on the daily regimen are mild and tend to settle on their own over the first one to two weeks as your body adjusts to consistent dosing. Because the dose taken each day is lower than the as-needed regimen, common effects are usually less intense than they would be with a single larger dose. The most commonly reported are:
- Headache
- Back pain or muscle aches
- Indigestion or upset stomach
- Nasal congestion or a runny nose
- Flushing (warmth or redness in the face, neck, or chest)
- Dizziness
If a side effect is bothersome, persists beyond the first couple of weeks, or interferes with daily life, contact the Gambit Health Team. Your Gambit specialist may adjust your dose or the regimen.
Rare but serious side effects — seek immediate medical attention
Stop the medication and go to the nearest emergency department, or contact the Gambit Health Team right away, if you experience any of the following:
- An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) — this is a medical emergency. Untreated priapism can permanently damage erectile tissue.
- Sudden vision loss in one or both eyes, blurred vision, or new sensitivity to light.
- Sudden hearing loss or ringing in the ears.
- Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or shortness of breath, especially during or shortly after sexual activity.
- Signs of a serious allergic reaction — rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
What to do in an emergency
For any of the rare serious side effects above — especially an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing changes, chest pain, or signs of an allergic reaction — stop taking the medication and seek immediate medical attention. Go to your nearest emergency department or call 911. Then contact the Gambit Health Team at support@getgambit.ca or 519-715-8997 so your Gambit specialist can review your case and adjust your treatment plan.
How your Gambit specialist prescribes it
Your prescription is issued only after the internal medicine specialist reviewing your case has read your intake. The daily regimen is one of two options for this molecule family at Gambit — your Gambit specialist will recommend the daily regimen, the as-needed regimen, or a different option entirely based on your intake. Prescriptions are issued for one year, with one prescription change allowed during the year if your specialist decides a different dose or regimen is a better fit.
Use, sharing, and special populations
- This medication is prescribed for adult men with erectile dysfunction. It is not for use by women or by anyone under 18.
- Do not share this medication with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms. The decision to prescribe is based on your individual health history and current medications.
- If you are planning to father a child or have questions about fertility, discuss them with your Gambit specialist.
Storage
- Store at room temperature (20–25°C / 68–77°F), in the original container, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.
- Return any unused or expired medication to a pharmacy take-back program — do not flush it or place it in household waste.
